Loud Hum over 70mph. Duratracs?

Hello,

I recently installed a set of duratracs and they are quiet until I hit 72mph and then they come alive. It almost sounds like a bad wheel bearing and sounds isolated to the passenger rear but it's hard to tell. It wasnt there until I installed the new duratracs? Does anyone else have this problem?

So you dont notice a big difference once you get above a certain speed? Mine are very quiet then all the sudden here comes the airplane.

It gets louder the faster I go, but no there is not a certain point where it starts to scream.

i dont have duratracs... i have BFG A/T's... and around 50 or higher i have the exact same sound you described. it sounds isolated as well. ive been too scared to take it in and have it checked.

I had mine up to almost 90 on my last road trip, averaging 70+ mph over 500 miles, and they were very quiet. I could get them to make a little noise in wide sweeping turns on the freeway, but that's about it.

Like Ripcord said though, the noise may increase with mileage. Mine only have about 4k on them.

Mine have about 20k on them. I have noticed that they've gotten slightly louder as they've worn, but they definitely don't scream like an MT or anything. They've always been pleasantly quiet with a slight hum. I do mostly highway driving too, so speeds between 70-75 or so are the norm.

I appreciate the responses! The more I read the more I think there is somthing wrong such as a wheel bearing. There is no way they should get loud suddenly.

Mine sound like A/T tires but nothing that's too obnoxious;BFGs are louder at lower speeds but I still don't consider them that loud either and nothing the radio doesn't cover.

I noticed my duratracs are pretty loud now that I dont have the flowmaster muffler, but I dont really mind it

it's because your approaching the optimum speed of 88 mph...

no, i have this same thing going on and i'm pretty sure i've narrowed it down to one of my wheel bearings, i'm not going to say my duratracs are quite , they make noise but they don't hum really more just like the sound of a lot of rubber moving across the asphalt quickly which really is quite loud i have around 10-15k on mine i believe.

My tires did the same thing.....but once I taught them the words, the problem went away.

Seriously, though, my tires DO in fact hum; but they're not ridiculously loud.

I'm thankful that it was just my Rola Rack making the noise. I never would have thought it could make all that noise.
