It drives amazingly in the slippery stuff, even with wet clay under the snow on a steep grade. Am very happy with this 4-Runner, and the pups are loving that back window. :)

So jealous! We probably won't see snow till January down in New Jersey. Even with the stock tires, a 4wd 4Runner is very capable in snow.
 
Miss the white stuff down here in Buffalo, NY... 70 degrees (approximately 25-30 Celsius I believe?) here today, shaking my head! But yes, that's the 4runner in its element right there, enjoy!
 
I used to look forward to the first snowfall.. That is until I became the proud owner of a Hyundai Accent.. :bash: God I can't wait to get rid of this thing.
 
winter is not for everyone however I would not give up having 4 seasons, less is boring and I prefer having more options for sports and activities. :) Plus my Akitas would not do as well in the south. Although winter is not for everyone.

Chains

Ever had to run snow chains on the rear tires - if so what kind?

I saw in the owner's manual that chains aren't allowed on the front tires, but I've been in a few situations where front & rear were really helpful on an old Ford Expedition.
 
Were you actually driving in the snow with the rear window down?

Last time I did that, I had road grime on the inside of my windshield!
 
What tires are you running? Correct me if I'm wrong, Alberta plate? - it's been a crazy start to the season.

I thought my old 2002 Subaru WRX with crappy Kumho snow tires does better than the 4runner in the snow with blizzaks.
 
Snow

There is a lot of snow to be seen from our house, but I'm happy to say that it's over 4.500' up on Mount Cheam. After 67 years living in Ontario, New England and Washington State, I won't shed a tear if I never see a snowflake on the ground again. - Ted
