One of my headlights went today. Best low beam bulbs? Also thoughts on HIDs?

03-05: Absolutely not. You do not want to put HIDs in a reflector headlight, it will blind oncoming traffic
06-09: Understand that it is illegal in most states. Usually not a problem, especially if installed correctly using appropriate housing. It need to be in a projector housing to be even remotely safe. 06+ is a projector, but doing it "right" requires a more controlled projector done via a retrofit. If you are in a state that does inspections, having them installed may fail you.
Done right, it is spectacular. Doing it right is also expensive.

I did this h11 to h9 mod about a year ago, no complaints with it. I did get brighted a couple times right after I did the switch but haven't for a very long time now. Also, I'm still getting used to the stagger position of the headlights that is common these days.

just to dbl check these are the ones you would install in the 03-05 model years correct?? im about to upgrade these myself in my '03

I bought mine from here when I did the install. Lots of good information on the ever improving design of the HIR bulbs.
Incidentally, the ones I installed in 2010 are still going strong with great light output.

No adjustment required and I've never been flashed. If you live in the city and want to save a couple of bucks, you could ignore the high beams. I did mine but almost never use them (but they are bright when I do).
