Low Lift from Slee?

(Low Lift)

Has anyone run something like this on their 4th gen v6? Looks like something I'd like because I'd like to stay under 3 inches. But I'd use Sway-Away 1.5" rear springs instead of OME 895e. Just curious how it would look or if anyone has a similar set up.

Why not go with the whole OME setup? These are well-designed components that work well, changing the parts is not a good idea. All OME setups are under 3" and typically 2" after settling. Going higher requires aftermarket UCA's.

Everything I've read about OME springs is that the actual lift on them is higher than what's listed on most websites. OME 884's or 885's are all reported to have 3 inches of lift, which in turn affects camber/caster. Which I don't want. I'm trying to avoid buying aftermarket UCA's. And I've also read the OME 895e are much stiffer than Sway Aways because they're rated for more weight...maybe I'm wrong. I'd like to keep a "softer" ride if I can help it. But thanks for the input guys, much appreciated.

That's one reason I went with the FJC spring lift. Gained me right around 1" as measured at the wheel arches, which was all I needed. Bilstien 5100's in the rear and stock FJC TT shocks front (which are also Bilstiens but I don't know what model.) It was good enough to clear 32" tires (255/75/17.) Currently running 265/70/17s so about 31.5" or so. Good enough for what I need.

3" before setteling perhaps. People seem to measure what's gained immediately after installation. When I get home from my trip I'll be installing a new OME suspension to replace mine which is old and soft. I guess I'll test my own opinion at that time but I'd never use anything other than OME since it's been trouble-free in my use for the 4Runner and the old Land Cruiser.

Slee is selling to the off-road market and has a couple set-ups. Call Cruiser Outfitters in Utah and tell them exactly what you want and see what they have to say.

the member named 60ft6in has that exact "low lift" setup. Thanks to his input I ordered mine from Wheeler's Offroad as well and it should be here by Thursday. I am planning on taking measurements before and after install (after settling) and I will pay close attention to ride quality and difference before and after install. Everyone seems to want to know if OME is too stiff. I spoke to Cristo Slee at Slee offroad and he said it is a true 2" and not more than that. There is nothing more reliable than OME from what I understand. Not even lifetime warrantied Bilstein 5100. But maybe I am saying too much since I haven't even installed it yet.

Trust Christo, he knows his stuff. Good luck with the install and keep us posted. It will probably be a few weeks before I get around to installing mine. OME rocks, you'll be happy I'm sure. BTW, stiffness varies with the springs, I'll be putting heavies in front since I have the bumper and winch but medium in back to avoid it being too stiff.

FWIW- the 895/895e are 40% stiffer than stock springs- so figure out what your cargo loads are likely to be and go from there

Bumping this thread

Anyone else out there running this lift yet? Im curious about ride quality and actual height gained. Any regrets?

No regrets, I'm on a slight decline in the pic but that'show she sits. I'm probably going to add 1/4 spacer the front in the next month or so. So I'll post pics when I do that. (I do not have exact measurements on me currently, sorry).

Here you go. 2006, V6 - full OME with 883/895e. Running stock tires until I wear them out.

I love the setup as is. Rides great off road. As mentioned, handles extra weight well but also minimizes body roll and nose dive. I don't find it uncomfortable, it rides like a truck but is noticeably smoother with a load. Very happy with the setup. I started with 884s up front and my wheel wells were almost level. I dropped to the 883s and lost exactly an inch up front so I have the 1" of rake like I wanted.

^ I'm currently in the EXACT same boat.

My current 884/895E set up has me pretty much level when I was expecting the front to be lower than the rear.

I now just might swap out the 884 springs for 883 :snacker:

Thanks for sharing your experience and pic.

I ended up speaking with ARB USA after my initial install. Their take is that the 895e was never meant to be paired with the 884, only with the 883s. They are the same spring rate but 883s are 10mm shorter, about 1/2". That yielded me a 1" lift difference after install. I had talked to several vendors before purchasing. Toytec for example does not list 883s as an standard option with 895e when building an OME kit for 4th gen T4R. In fact I only found them listed as a Taco option. After my experience I provided feedback to them but I don't think they made any changes.

Very interesting. Well your 883 set up looks great. I already ordered mine to swap out :lmao:

Does your front suspension have any other mods/upgrades? Or just the 883 springs w/ OME shocks? (such as trim packer for driver lean?)

I do have drivers side trim on the front. I ordered rear just in case but I am only 1/4" lower on drivers side so I consider it level.
