Low milage issues.

So one of the local toyota dealers is selling a 2001 limited with only 24k on the clock. They just posted it today and I went to look at it, turns out they won't have it until Monday. My question is are they any specific things that could be an issue with such a low milage car? I've been secretly looking at getting a limited 4x4 but this just seems too good to be true.

Also what is the most you would give them for it, they are asking just shy of 16k which is crazy high... But it is the stealership.

Oh yeah anyone interested in a 2002 2wd sport with 190k? :wink2:

It's a ghost, a ploy to get customers in there. If it does exist it will be sold before it ever hits their parking lot.

I hate dealers
 
Haha wow 02se that would be it, so they bought it off eBay for 14k and are gonna turn around and try and get 16k. I'll check it out when it gets here maybe see if I can't pry it away from them and go get someone to look at it.

Most likely they won't get cheap enough for me if I did end up wanting to get it but it's worth a shot eh?
 
Jim Hudson or **** Dyer? Oh, there is the Toyota Center too.

$12xxx at the most. But for such low mileage there could be as many problems as one with 5x as many miles, if not possibly more.

But if it looks good, and you can get them down in price, then, if you have the funds, maybe so.
 
Toyota Center, my buddy's uncle is actually a service manager at Jim Hudson. If I do even get to take it by myself I might try to get him to look at it. I just can't wait to see their faces when I ask them if they got it off eBay for 14k... I love this forum.
 
Assuming the vehicle looks solid, check out what you would have to pay for a newer 4Runner with the same mileage...say, a 2010. $16K may be a bargain for a truck that has so much of its life left. Add in the full frame and the best looks and off-road performance of any 4Runner ever offered, and this may be a no-brainer...

I just looked up a 2010 T4R Limited with 25,000 miles on Kelly Blue Book...$37,848.

That's only kind of true. Certain parts of a vehicle are going to age no matter how many miles are on it. Every single piece of rubber and plastic on it is 11 years old.
 
The biggest thing I would look for first would be if the odometer (cluster) has been swapped out to make it appear to be lower mileage.

Like I tell my kids, and friends - when you buy a used vehicle - no matter the age or condition - expect to put at least a $1,000.00 in it to get it right.

I did a search on that vehicle, and there is 11 reports on it. Didn't bother to pay the $$ for all the reports as I didn't intend to buy it. Just curious. If you want to run the VIN numbers it's - JT3HN87R210357838

Kelly Blue Book value (stealership) is listed at $18K.

If I could have talked my wife-unit into a 2nd 4Runner I would have bought it - after a trip to Maryland to inspect it first hand.
