low milage tire life?

Last year I only put 4500 miles on a '07 Sport v6. Looking at this just on 'years', how long should I keep original tires on my Toyota? city/highway daily driver

In early 2008 I viewed a report that said that tires begin to physically decay and become unsafe at about 6 years (from the date of manufacture). However, take that information with a grain of salt.

For me, I think that the 5 year rule is probably a good one.

I was wondering the same thing. Mine are at least six years old, but putting only a few thousand miles on them a year will net me at least a few more years. I'd really like to get some new tires though. I'm sure it would be easier to convince my parents if I tell them how unsafe they are.
