Low mileage but rusted out. Worth the money or pass?

Found this for sale local to me. Guy wants $3500 for it with 124k original miles. Says the vehicle is from Michigan and it shows. See pics. Is this worth it should I pass?

For a frame/underside in that kind of condition, HELL NO. That thing should be stripped for parts and sent to the scrapper.

How many holes are in the frame? Are the rear control arms structurally sound? How are the front upper shock mounts? How flexible is he on price? This are the things I would be asking. If those issues aren’t too bad I’d say it’s worth it. If you’re not planning on selling the truck for a while and have someone do a good patch job on the frame you will have a really stout truck that will last for years.

If you want something just to last a year or two and can get it for cheap, sure. But if you plan on keeping it for any longer period of time, no way.

Pass at that price...rust freakin sucks! Too bad, I like the 3rd gens in black but it wouldn't be worth the trouble

On top of rust, it has the orange lights on, on dash cluster that indicate a possible bad Trac Module.

Thanks for al the replies. I’m gonna pass on it. Found a similar non rusted and low mileage (140,000) 1999 sport but they are asking $7000. Have to see if they have any room to come down

Lol yep. What do you think of that price? I found an 02 sport with a. Toytec boss kit and 33’s on level 8’s for $7500 but has 210k miles.

I’m posting it for sale for $36,000 and looking to get back into a 4Runner or maybe a 1st gen tundra. Honestly I’m torn on what I want because I’ve had both before and wish I could have both again. But one vehicle is all I need and all I can afford to allow for me to purchase a house.

I bought my first house 12 years ago. Its a great feeling. I have my 4runner & back then a Corolla for commuting to save gas. No need for 2 trucks then.

Now I have 3 trucks & 2 cars with my GF, I have property to store them! LOL

Haha well I figure I can get another truck later on but I’m afraid I’ll miss having a bed. I’ve been browsing for a month and haven’t found a decent 1st gen tundra to my liking. Started looking at 4Runners and have found a good bit that I like. They are also cheaper! Guy has a nice black 3rd gen on the classifieds here for $5500 and is close to me. I’m torn lol
