Can you show a pic of the mounting tabs for the 3rd Gen stock rails? What's the inside clear width? 48" or more for a piece of plywood?
 
the dimensions of this rack were 42x55. something wide enough for a sheet of plywood would certainly stick out over the sides a little much for most people i think.
 
Update with a picture of one a member (3rd gen) installed on his. He actually mounted it in place of his stock tracks. However, i still set them up to mount to the tracks.

Hey man ever thought about making a full length for 4th gen? If so i would definitely be interested. Im not sure if you have measured it out for a 4th gen but on that 3rd gen its a "half" length so i would like something from front of roof to rear. Let me know if you are interested with a price shipped.

im very interested in building 4th gen stuff, but, i dont have a 4th gen to measure, and dont know anyone in this area that does. youre the closest person to chime in yet, only 4 hours away lol! trust me im working on it.

I'm about 2 hours away and have been wanting a custom rack myself. Maybe we can work in a meeting somehow to get you started/finished with a 4th gen product!
 
Can you post up some pics of how that mounts to the stock rails? i had something similar on my old Cherokee, but I hated the mounts.
 
I don't have a roof rack - just plastic strips on the roof - so technically I would be able to mount it on top of those strips? Or remove the strips and mount directly to the holes in the roof? :)

also - any idea if I will be able to attach bike rails to it (in case I want to transport a bike) - or the profile of this rack mounted just to the roof will be too low? (and I don't have oem/stock roof rails).
