Lower price shock options?

My 03 xreas are leaking. Also noticed jarring ride. Believe time to finally replace after 180000 miles. I see everyone loves the bilsteins but if I'm only likely to have 4runner for another year or two, should i bother spending the money on bilstein or decent lower cost option? Is daily driver to work only 4 miles each way. Hardly no off-roading anymore.

Also, while pulling things apart to change shocks, any other items i should consider changing at this point, i.e. Bushings, etc?

Bilstein - Made in Germany and the USA.

^^ Cheaper usually means over-seas (aka China) manufacturing.

I have Bilstein rear shocks on my 3/4Ton Silverado 4x4 / when my Gen3 4Runner needs new shocks, I'll just go straight for the Bilstein's.
- $99 a shock, is fine with me

Bilstein also offers the 4600 series that are cheaper than the 5100's that most folks upgrade to.

I know my own shocks and struts are toast. Debating going with 5100's and new springs or OME setup. I'll be keeping my 4Runner for the next 10 years but cash is tight.

Most on the forum plat with there trucks, or want to lift them at least. The answers are going to be bias because of this.

If you are a DD person who wants a good low cost option jusy toss some KYBs on there. Great daily driver shock that's well known. They also sell the assembled ones, strut, spring and top hat, if you don't want to mess with assembly

Another option is to not replace the suspension. If you only daily drive it 4 miles a day and plan on selling it in a year or two, it might not be worth spending the money.

If you do the work yourself it would be worth replacing the shocks, struts, and springs with KYB or Toikico and spend $600ish. That way you can enjoy a better ride for the next year or two without spending $1000+ for a 5100 or Old Man Emu set up.
