Lowering Rear Instead of Raising Front in Order to Level

Hi guys,

I notice that my new 2006 XSP V6 2WD 4Runner is about an inch higher in the rear than the front like most.

Instead of raising the front, what is the preferred way to lower the rear 1.0-1.25" to level the car out? I like the height of the front and think the rear is a little too high for my tastes.

Any recommendations?

Thank you!
Luke

The easiest and quickest way to lower the rear is to put some weight back there. Mine levels out nicely when packed with camping gear.

I would recommend:

1. Lift the front
2. Lift the front and rear
3. Not doing it at all
4. Sell it to someone that will lift it.

Nope

The only ways I can think of is to find a shorter springs that will fit or to cut the original springs down. Haven't seen anyone do it yet.

You probably won't get too many ideas out of this group. Runners are typically going up rather than down. Do a Google search for lower kits for your ride.

The down side is that if you do put a fair amount of weight in the back, your headlights will be really annoying to those driving in front of you. Same issue for lifted and leveled Runners.

Dont feel too isolated...I have often thought of lower AWDV8T4R...I do drive it like it is my AWD sports car !

Some off road but it is generally flat Texas ranch roads, I am keeping the paint as nice as possible as long as I can so that limits my off road experience.

You can't cut the 4Runner rear coils. They're the pigtail style, they won't seat right. The cheapest/easiest way is the coil clamps (can get them at any parts store). I don't recommend them but can't see why they wouldn't work. Would also have to cut your bump stop down.
