LR UCA install question(pic)

So I got these all installed, but when torqued to spec (45 FT/LBS) there is a significant gap between the boot and the slug in the spindle. Normal or not? It doesn't seem light more tightening will fix it. Everything seems installed correctly.

The boot could be shifted. Mine were flush when I torqued them down.

I just got done installing these a couple of hours ago and mine did have the gap also. I was also wondering if it was normal. I think it is.

Also, did you install the SPC logo on the brass piece facing outward. Doesn't look like it but by the angle of the picture, it's hard to tell

Put a crow bar in there and see if there is any play. If there is no play than your good to go. What UCA's are these?

SPC logo? And the boot seems to work like the rest with the rubber bit aiding in sealing. Therefore it'd make sense that it needs to be pressed against metal to seal. Similar to the LBJS and steering arms

My passenger side arm had that gap after torqued. I was concerned with it but didnt have the energy to take it all apart and check everything. So I slid the boot down and closed the gap and all has been fine.

How did you slide the boot down? It seems fairly stiff and set in its location.

The boot is pretty pliable, i just wrapped my pointer finger and thumb around it and forced it down. It hasnt moved since. So i figure during packaging or installation it some how moved up.

Mine are SPC and I didn't have a gap at all. It was just a PITA to press them in. Give tech support a call. Send them a photo. You can play the guessing game on here all day long. You want to make sure it's done right!

Hopefully you turned those upper ball joints around. They are 180 out right now. The flat side has the spc logo on it and should be facing out. If not you will have to crazy camber going on.

Why not just post what you did to get them pressed in/flush?

Any reason why you reused the old washers along with the new washers? The SPC instructions say the old washers aren't used.

The ball joint is already pressed in OK. That looks fine. The gap is coming from on top from the boot not from the steering knuckle. I'm not sure why. If it matters here's a link to the tool I used along with a 1/2" breaker bar.
