LTDSC Build Thread

LTDSC, Sam, what are you running for suspension now? I've been following your thread since well before I joined the forum, in fact, your thread was the first thread I subscribed to, but I have become terribly confused and backwards about what you ended up staying with (and believe me, I've read this thread a lot.). Can you give me a quick rundown? I graduate in less than a year, and I'm planning my graduation present early.

Edit: okay I did a quick browse. Icon coilovers, TC upper and lower control arms. Fill in the gaps for me?

Also, why icons? I'm thinking of Fox coilovers. Just looking for enlightenment.

YOU are the man. Saved me pages of reading. IMHO still the coolest and most practical 4th Gen 4runner on the site

Did a little mock up today

Looks like we will be doing the work next weekend

Cut out the old shock pocket and created a new one with the shock tower. Burned it all in after we checked droop and compression.

Tomorrow we do the other side.

Looks awesome! Really like the towers you assembled. Where did you buy the mounts? Do you have any pics showing the towers with the upper shock mount welded together without the shock in place?

I mentioned in another thread, I thought your new Kings were 12" stroke, but they are 10". Excuse my ignorance coming into the 4th gen platform, but why mess around with the upper mount if you can run a 11.5" stroke shock using factory mounting? (As per the Metal Tech rear LT setup). My only thinking is that the Metal Tech rear LT requires the bumpstops drop to accommodate that particular shock. Are you gaining more up travel out of this setup that the MT rear LT?

Sorry for all the questions.... Just sold my Tundra today which means its time to start researching for my 4R build. Love this thread and it's been a great source of info!

EDIT: just read your cross post... You want to raise the factory lower shock mounts for more clearance. All making sense now. Are you still running a bumpstop drop then for the 35s? How much further back are your rear lower links extended?

Why carrying it around at all then if its just extra weight and no functional use?

I'm likely that rear shock set up, nice work

Cause you can always rotate it to the front and be fine in 2wd, getting you to where you need to go
Instead of being up shit creek without a paddle.

Got it all finished up today. Was a long process but I'm very happy with the results.

Rides amazing. Extremely happy with it so far.

Are you running wheel spacers up front too? Curious on your wheel specs with the 35's.

I asked this previous, but not sure if you saw... Have you pushed the axle back at all to avoid rubbing in the rear wheel wells?

Spacers up front, yes. Rear I've trimmed to open the wheel wells up. I believe I posted the photo of my cuts in here. At full compression I have 2 finger gap all the way around
