Lting with Top Plate Spacer- Help

So I'm out here, in the rain...bottle jack is on but the uca is contacting the spring before I can get it drooped enough to bolt in.

Ok, the driver side is assembled. But its at a terrible angle. The ball joint will be toast in no time like this. I tightened the uca with the weight off the truck though, any chance thats what's wrong? Or is it just going to have a terrible ball joint angle?

Travis just sent me a pic via text.

I haven't lifted my truck yet but that looks really tall to me. What's wrong? the spacer making it too high?

This is one major problem with top out spacers (a spacer that is on top of the coil and outside of the top plate). They will allow the wheel to droop beyond the safe limits. This can cause over extension of the CVs and they can actually pull apart when drooping a wheel.

1st. is all the weight on the suspension?

2nd. what exactly is your setup?

No, the other front corner is still on a jack stand so it has some.weight but not all. My setuo on the front is bilsteins on the highest setting with top out spacers that were already on the truck (unknown brand about 3/4 of an inch thick.

Bilstein's are at 2.5", top outs are lifting it 1.5", so you've got 4" of lift and the stock arms can only handle 3- 3.5" of lift before the ball joint starts to bind. I know you don't want to hear this, but you're going to have to remove the top out or replace it with smaller one.

What top out will I need to achieve the extra half inch?

Went ahead and ordered the correct spacers and a diff drop from Toytec. Hopefully we can get them in asap....talk about more of a project than I had intended.

BTW, got the strut in there with the big ass top plate by myself. With another person and a good set of prybars this job really wouldn't be bad with the right parts.

I did the rear suspension today and it's DONE!

Wanted to tell everyone thanks for all the help, this forum has been a lifesaver thus far! I'll have to start a build thread next, I suppose. :)

I'll take it to a well lit parking lot tonight and get some pics. The back end is way up high so I put 100# of feed back there...may need to add another 100...I hope these springs settle out some.

You ended up getting your friends LC springs right...were they 8 wraps? BTW I let my cell phone minutes run out so I can change over to another service. Hope you didn't need me to post up those pics because I'm phoneless right now :crybaby:

Yep, I'm pretty sure they were the 8 wraps. I can crawl under and check tomorrow. I'll post pics tonight, I've got the computer with me. If these things don't settle out I'll either need to lift the front a bit more and try to deal with BJ issues or swap to an OME rear spring. I dunno. I can't do the positive rake too much.

Also: Anyone know a reasonable source for extended endlinks for the rear or swaybar drop brackets?

There are 2 links for homemade swaybar links that are decently priced. You can build some like the ones I copied for $30. That's for both sides.

There we are! Still gotta put on my diff drop and get an alignment...but that's probably going to wait until I can get new ball joints and tie rod ends put in at the same time.
