lug nuts: gorilla, mcgard

I have some aftermarket wheels to install which I believe use the "Acorn" style seating. On my previous rally car I used mcgard STEEL spline drive nuts because the finish on them did not chip, whereas the other "tuner" brands were anodized aluminum that chipped easily.

Anyone know a good source to get 24 steel spline drive mcgard nuts, or of another brand that is comparable and truly doesn't chip and peel and so forth? All I can find are 50 packs of mcgard nuts and short of splitting it with someone it is a pretty outrageous price at $160 or whatever.

Cool, this is what I needed to hear. With the subie there were no non-chip alternatives, it was either mcgard or chips. If the black gorilla splines don't chip then I will get some of those!

Gorilla's catalog. We need 12x1.5mm,and I'm assuming the "BC" at the end of the black lugs' part #s means Black Chrome. I don't know why Summit describes the red and blue as anodized because they're steel,not aluminum,but the finish does resemble anodizing. Gorilla does list aluminum spline drive lug nuts and Summit describes those as anodized finishes,including the black ones.

I remember ordering two sets of black (steel) spline drives because they don't offer a set of 24. What I don't remember is where I put the extra lugs and spline drive socket :redbrick:

Just got my set of the steel black chrome spline drive nuts, they look to be quite durable actually. I am pleased with the quality. They ship them in a loose sack, so if rustling around in the back of a ups truck for a few days didn't ruin the finish then I imagine careful application should be ok for the finish.
