Made my own Snorkel

Since no one makes one for the 2nd Gen anymore I decided to make my own.
Its based off of this guys. Custom snorkel build-up - YotaTech Forums

For the airbox I cut a new holl 3" in diameter screwed in the corrugated pipe and black RTVed the hell out of it.)

Covered the old hole with a round piece of sheet metal and black RTV

Cut a 3 3/8" hole in the fender where the wires go in (Took a sawzall and cut a square hole for the cable to sit on top of the corrugated pipe)

Great simple build im doing the same thing on my first gen. Couple questions for you. First where did you find the steel? Second how did you cut out the side panel and make it look clean (or is it a crude cut and filled in with rtv and the pic just doesn't show it. Thanks for the build thread.

just remember that when you submerge your truck enough to have to use a snorkel you are going to screw up other stuff (alternator,dist cap,diffs,transmission,transfer case,) and don't forget about your fan blade i saw some one 2 weeks ago rip two blades off luckily they didn't go into his radiator or do any other damage. just make sure you seal everything up. i am not hating here i think it is cool to drive under water but it would suck to screw something else up when you are having a good time:ybrick:

Its mainly used for when you hit some water and it tries to plow over the hood. On the 3.0 the intake inlet is right behind the driver head light which water can get in super easy. I dont plan on going deep like up to my windows lol just to help prevent hydo-lock. Im not like your standard idiots that thinks just because I have a snokel means its a submarine. Thanks for the look out though!

Plus you have to admit its look BA:D

Those that don't have a 2nd gen with the 3.0 may not understand, the intake is easily accesible to water. Snorkels are not just for submerging, but for stuff like this....



Unfortunately I have never met a puddle that I didn't like. Maybe I should move the snorkel higher up on my list of things to mod.

Didn't a mud puddle cause yours to go down for a few weeks?
