Hi,

I am ready to clean my MAF sensor, but for the life of it, i cannot find a MAF SENSOR CLEANING SPRAY. Currently I am in Central America... and I see if either carburator clearners of electrical contact clearner? What alternative in cleaning solutions I have? ANy ideas? thanks!

Any electronic contact cleaner should work well enough, but CRC MAF cleaner is definitely your best bet if you can find it. Alternatively you could use 99% isopropyl alcohol. I would stay away from using carb or brake cleaner, they might harm the plastic parts of the sensor.

Thanks. How will u use the 99% isopropyl alcohol? with a Spray? I read that one should NOT touch the sensor with anything.

Personally, I would disassemble the MAF completely such that the end of the sensor can easily be dipped into a bath of rubbing alcohol and swirled around a bit. I would also use a q-tip to GENTLY clean the sensor. If you're not comfortable with this though, don't attempt it. It's very easy to break the sensor.

This isn't for a T4R, but you can use it as a guide: http://www.louv.tv/cars/m5/MAF/

I used to use Windex on my 94 Ranger with a MAF. Did the trick every time. I haven't touched my 4Runner's MAF yet.
