MAFci Sytem, who is interested?

04 SE V6 and I am interested!

I have seen the results that were achieved on the Mazda 6S. If you can get anywhere close to those numbers than I think everyone here would be interested!

CP-E guys are for real... this is why

I know this is an old topic, but I just joined the board and wanted to reassure everyone here, that CP-E is the real deal. I just traded my Mazda6s V6 in for my '05 4runner. I purchased their intake and mafci kit. It seriously made a difference in the performance of the car. So much in fact, that the stock wishbone engine mount on the engine snapped from the added torque. I never had my car officially dynoed before or after, but it was a enough of an increase in performance that I needed no convincing. The install was very easy. The mafci attached to the stock ecu via tapping into the wire harness. I have no electrical background and installed it easily. You have the option to use Scotchlocks or soldering. Best of all, no check engine light codes were thrown compared to competing companies like AEM and Injen.

I would highly recommend any of you who are interested in increasing the performance of their 4runner, V8 and V6 included, to donate their car to CP-E. If I lived closer, I would donate my 4runner for testing.

I would also like to mention that for being a smaller company, CP-E has terrific customer service. If you have problems or questions with the product, they are more than willing to help satisfy.

My two cents...

You broke your what?!?!?! :awais:

Btw, the SC produces more HP/Torque and didn't break anything so either someone broke something during the installation or you have some issues w/ your 4runner.

Also, I'd love to see some actual figures from a dyno. I'm personally not a big fan of the k&n type system since it doesn't do a good job of filtering crap but I'm all ears if we can see some real #'s.

Re:

I didn't break anything on the 4runner, I broke an engine mount on the Mazda6. It was the wishbone mount. It is what controls the back and forth torquing vectors on the engine and also acts as a vibration buffer. It eventually weakened and tore from the improved torque. This was the critical engine mount as there are two others that anchor the engine into place, but it helps keep the engine from rocking back and forth when you put the hammer down on the accelerator. You should have seen how much the engines in those cars move when they are being revved on a dyno. It made those cars hard to shift smoothly once the mount was broken. In fact, CP-E has engineered a redesigned engine that has a stronger urethane compund to compensate for the increased torque response of the mafci. I was just about ready to install it before I traded the car in for the 4runner.

well... let's see some pictures... charts..graphs... let's get this show on the road!

Totally interested

2005 v8.... and very interested in a turbo kit.. that would totally make my day!

hmm.. if you do make an intake for the v8... I'd definitely be interested.... that's ALOT of money for that price though... 1/4th of a turbo kit...

I'm interested in the MAFci sytem for an '05 V8 4Runner. Let's get this thing rolling and get some hard price and performance data!!

I still don't see any real world #'s for the 4runner. The problem I have with this system is that you have to be WOT and at max rpm to finally see some results.

If you look at the Subaru's dyno results you don't see a significant improvement until 4500 rpm and finally at 5500 rpm. Similar results w/ the torque #'s too. Now for a sports car this is fine but for a 4runner? I mean how often are we going to be at WOT on the road? I see these great intake performance mods worth the $ if you're WOT all the time but for the average joe daily driver, I think a simple air filter suffices. If you look at the low rpm range there is little to no difference (so this means you won't maximize your bang for your buck).

I'm no performance guru by any standard but I'm guessing that at WOT you're running very rich w/ premium gas and a smoother intake to get more air for these figures. Not sure if it's any better than any other system though. Of course I think they add a piggy back ECU for the added air/fuel which means more power so that's prob the gyst of this system. I could be wrong though..

In no ways am I saying this is a POS as by looking at the Subaru's dyno it works. I just don't see how it'll really apply to the 4runner.

Now on the flip side, throw a SC in and you'll notice the difference right away even at low range. Now that's definite useable power rather than upper range power.

The other concern that I have why any intake system is how good the actual filter intake is. Like any ol intake it goes bad after awhile and will not filter out any of the bad gunk. By visual inspection this looks similar to the K&N intake which I'm not a big fan of. I've seen a lot of particles go past these types of filters so that's another concern for me. I would never sacrifice any performance improvement for the demise of crap going into my block.

More food for thought.

In addition, TRD prohibits the use of any aftermarket air cleaner assembly other than a free flow air filter with the use of the supercharger. The toyota injectors are maxed out at that point, and adding more air will guarantee that you will run lean.

I don't know about anyone else around here, but I'm WOT and high in the VVTi range quite a bit. Especially driving I-70 to the mountains in the summer and winter. Also, during street races whether it be outpacing an '03 Maxima to 60 (barely) or trying to keep up with an X5 4.4i (I had 5 people in the 4R, he only beat me to 60 by a car length). Also, that range comes in use towing.

If anything, a little high end punch is exactly the the 4Runner could use. It seems to run out of power ~500 rpm before redline. I realize this happens on almost every other engine, but for the 4R that is still usable engine speed, if it wasn't it would be covered up by redline.

By looking at the website, this seems to me to be a pretty legitimate deal, providing they manufacture a prototype and provide the hard numbers. I haven't found any info anywhere else on the internet to say otherwise about either CP-E or their MAFci.

Sign me UP!!!!! :D

Come on people lets get some more interest in this product. Can anyone in the DC, Maryland area get a car over to these guys so they can begin to develop a prototype??
