That sounds about like the one on my Avalanche. Its a 50's series big Block. Large muffler. When race the motor in
Park get the similar sound as yours. Once underway you dont
hear much at all, no resonance at all. Now if have the mid
gate open I can pick up a little under throttle.

Thanks guys...always here to help on performance stuff as its my strong point.

The tips look great and should be cleaned with just soap and water normally and when a nice polish is needed, use a quality metal polish to help them looking sparkly..

The sound is great but its has gotten louder since i've had it. The drone at highway is not bad but Im also alot less prone than alot of people to be bothered by it. Its not exactly quiet from about 1500-2200 but its liveable as long as your tolerant and any significant other is as well.

I was gonna ask about the drone.

I have an 03 with a custom system using Magnaflow components and the drone makes highway driving almost unbearable.

I need to chekc what size muffler (the main box) I have vs the system.

Anything less than the 24" muffler is going to cause a good bit more resonance. I know that my 24" is about as much as I would want in a daily driven truck.

Ive spent the past few days on a road trip up to Austin, TX and back and it was pretty tolerable.

I just got a Magnaflow 18" 2.5 center inlet outlet installed with a nice stainless steel tip. Lemme tell you, If you put an exhaust on the V-6, its not going to sound anything like the V-8. I am not sure how happy I am with it.

Its got a nice throaty tone at WOT, but cruising around the city, I guess it could maybe pass off as a V-8, untill you step into it. Wifey has the digi cam , otherwise I would post some pics.
If I could find my Video camera I would post a clip..

Did you cut the resonator off as well when you installed the new tip? Also, did you turn the tip to the side or does it still exit in the back? I know it won't make much of a difference, just trying to get the full picture.

I've thought about putting an exhaust on the my V6 4Runner, but I don't want a loud one as I've grown accustom to the quietness of the truck. Now under load or WOT, I'm fine with that. I just don't want the constant drone.

I finally ordered the Magnaflow catback for my 05 V8. It should be here Friday and I hope to install it shortly afterwards depending on time. I got it from PerformancePeddler.com for $383.00 and some change. Not a bad deal at all in my opinion. Thanks for the sound clips once again Casper. It was the deciding factor for me. Next up is the upgrade from 20's to 22's. I really need a bigger set of wheels.

Not Casper but I need to go measure mine.

I was told the box on the complete system is 21" but mine is shorter than that.

However, the body is oval and about 3.5 x 7

Its just too dang small. I lost the reasonator and came out sideways just behind the mudflap with a reasonator tip.

I think we need to go bigger.

Why do you think you need to go bigger? Too loud?

I'll have to look at my paperwork, I think I got a 22" also, but I'm sure it's bigger around than 3.5X7.

Under acceleration, its about the best sounding import V8 I have ever heard. Lost of comments and compliments. Dude ran after me the other day to ask what I had under hood.

However, long runs are a bear, 1800-2000 rpm (depending on grade) is almost unbearable for more than 30 mins...very, very boomy.

I would like to see the actual muffler from the complete system side by side with mine.

I will shoot some vids this weekend.

There are no install issues with magnaflow reguardless of year..

I didn't go with the cat-back, just the muffler with a turned out side exit with a SS tip. Very little hiway drone, completely tolerable.
Under acceleration it's a different story, awesome sound.:cannon:

I just sold my 03 as I am waiting on an 06 Sport and I can't live without VVTi...torque at low rpms is night and day :bogok:

Got a private sale that was about $3500 better than best trade !

You have a VVTi right, no install issues as I thought the original Magnaflow cat back system was for non VVTi

As Casper stated, no issues what-so-ever. The system is top quality (as good or better then OEM) and should last as long.

OK,

The muffler I am ussing has body dimensions of 24 x 5 x 9.

Its just too loud and boomy.

Can someone crawl under their rig and measure the muffler included in the system.
