Magnusson TVS1320 large body hinders transmission cable function

Hey guys, as the title states, I recently installed the new TVS1320 (which performs awesome), but upon re-installing all the doo-dads I realized the body of the SC housing itself is very large and precludes the proper resting position of the transmission kickback cable. At resting position, the cable is extended about one-half inch from where it should be. Did my due diligence to find the most efficient route of the transmission cable with minimal results - its just too short with this big bodied SC. This results in premature shifting, and also hard shifts. I have floated this issue to Magnusson with zero response.

I've "engineered" an extended tranny cable, though I'd never show my work here as you all would feed me to the wolves, but it works for now. Anyone know a proper cable extension solution?

Usually I just use locking collars. Like what you use on a rc plane landing gear.

Like these on chinazon

Collar

Or try to solder the extension together.

I don't, but I'll definitely be looking for one. My TVS1320 arrives at my house today...

I do have a bunch of prep work before I install it though - valve adjustment, injector cleaning, etc. so it will be a while.

I for one will be anxiously awaiting your thoughts on the new supercharger set up.

I did peek under the truck yesterday - it does look like you can get an extra 1/2" or so under the manifold and at the transmission by bending the heatshield/holder and the cable mount on the top of the transmission. I don't know if that'll be enough though.

Good call PhattDuck.! I looked under too, there is a 10mm bolt that holds the cable to the top of the tranny. Removing this bolt, and manipulating the cable out of the heat shield brackets gives just enough. Can then re-insert into the heat shield bracket with still enough length. Left the 10 mm bolt out. Drives great again!

How'd them rear coil springs I sent ya a while back work out?

Eaton to TVS

Slightly off topic.

Are you going from the Eaton/TRD to the TVS? If so I’m curious about your reaction.

I have the TRD and am considering upgrading.

Yes I went from the 2nd gen TRD (black) to the TVS. Not a big difference, but its a whole lot easier on the engine. Boost is ~5psi lower than the TRD, and I'd say its about 10% more pep. I mostly did it for the efficiency.

I finally got to this step in the install last night. I did basically the same thing to get the extra length. I did put a rubber-isolated p-clamp back in place in the 'reversed' direction to the stock clamp to keep the cable from flopping around in that area and still have some extra slack up top. With that, there is enough room/length on the cable.

You can see what's going on from the wheel well with the rear splash shield removed, but most of the work has to be done from below since access is pretty limited with the brake lines and steering shaft in the way.

Now all I have left is wiring up the 7th injector and she will be back on the road!
