MAINT Light Question

so the 4runner has 4500 miles on it now and the MAINT light goes on...i look at the manual and notice it's the light for oil replacement, ok no problem, my Honda had a similiar indicator but it was never on track with the actual service i had done to it. The dealer changed the oil when we bought it (it was with a demo with 3500 miles on it at the time of purchase, great deal by the way ) and we're not due for another change until 8500...So, i try to reset it according to the instructions in the manual but no such luck...

Anyone else had a problem resetting this light? I tried multiple times and followed the instructions very carefully.

I have reset that thing about ten times by now. Sometimes I have to do it twice. You have to follow the steps exactly in order.

just reset mine the other day bc i got my oil change at a Cheap ma and pa service center ..and they have no clue like the actual TOYOTA dealership does ,,,,,last guy is right i had to do it twice before it worked... just read exactly what manual says

Make sure the odometer displays the total mileage, not the trip distance.

total mileage ok, i think it may have been reading the trip mileage while i was pressing the button, i'll give it another go later, thanks.

The procedure is exactly like your Honda.
