I have 4900 miles and when I start the car, MAINT REQ'D flashes on the dash. Is this a normal thing that always occurs (and I've never noticed it), or do I really need maintenance? I can't imagine what I'd need at 4900 miles..... I have nothing set in the onboard computer either...

Yes, this is normal. The system is designed to basically "warn you" at 5000 mile intervals. Most people have thier tires rotated (and/or oil changed) at this interval. You can reset the light yourself, as its just a reminder light. There's a section on how to do so in the manual. (I'd give you the page but I don't have it handy). Bottom line, 100% normal.
Its normal, its for your 5000 mile service. The service is for a once over and rotation of tires. I paid for my oil to be changed also.

Yep totally normal...it's prolly time for you to change oil anyways...that's what I would do. If not...learn to turn it off as I find it very annoying.
