How often should the coolant system be flushed out and the coolant replaced?
How often should the transmission fluid be changed? I have a 2007 4Runner Ltd (V8) with 47,000 plus miles on it and none of these fluids have ever been changed. I use to own a Lexus 400 and as I recall both the coolant and the
transmission fluid were changed every 25,000 miles or so. I have been taking my 4Runner to the dealer for service from day one. I've asked them about the
service interval for the coolant and transmission fluid changes, but they have been vague as to when it should take place.

Toto's link is good. I would add, IMHO, they miss on a couple of items. The trans fluid should be changed at 60k if you don't tow, sooner if you do. The anti-freeze is dubbed Super-longlife or some such thing. IMHO 6 years OR 120k is the longest you should let that go. The V8 guys typically get new anti-freeze as part of the 90k timing belt job. I'd do the axles and t-case if I were you. Choose synthetic fluid for those and then don't worry about until 100k-120k miles.

The official Toyo recommendations are flawed IMHO. Axles and t-case fluids are never changed unless you tow. If you tow they say every 15k for the axles, 30k for the t-case, which is excessive for most. The trans fluid is also 'never' changed unless you tow, flat-out BS. For most 60k is probably the correct interval.
