Maintenance light

I had my oil changed at NTB and they were unable to reset the maintenance light. Is this a dealer item or can anyone help me with how to reset the light. Thanks.

The procedure (a simple one) is in your owners manual.

Neither they nor I could find it in the 2005 owners manual. Can you recall the procedure?

What about the other factors?

I read in my 04 4Runner manual that the Maint light is connected to many of the other systems including braking, acceleration, and electrical......how can you be sure that the dealer just didn't reset it after on oil change? There could be other problems (serious ones too) related to that Maint light.

I just had the 15,000 service and 300 miles later the light came on. It makes no sense to me why it didn't come on at 15,000. I don't feel comfortable simply resetting this light and hoping it's caused by the dealer not resetting it (since it wasn't on then).

If I reset the light and it turns out to be another electrical/system problem and not the oil change issue, will it re-illuminate again?

It should come back on if there is an ongoing issue that wasn't resolved.

The dealer mentioned that the "Maintenance" light is only related to the oil change. It is not related to other systems.

True and it does this on a specific mileage schedule.
