Maintenance light

God help me, I did this one time and it worked, but I can't remember what I did. I know it has something to do with the ignition switch going from ACC to ON, while holding down a button on the dash until the light goes off.

Then again, I recall having to do something with the accelerator in a similar process, but that might have been for a Jeep Liberty. These silly reminders/procedures are nothing but annoying..

Can you guys tell me how to reset the maintenance light on a 2004 SR5? We changed the oil a couple weeks ago and haven't been able to reset the light yet.

Maintenance light

Its very easy to reset.

1. Turn ignition switch to "ON" position
2. Set odometer/trip display to "ODO" mode
3. Turn ignition switch to "OFF" position
4. Depress and hold the Trip Meter "RESET" button while turning the ignition switch to the "ON" position
5. The service maintenance reminder light will:

i. Illuminate solidly for 3 seconds
ii. Blink for 2 seconds
iii. Illuminate solidly for 1 second
iv. Turn off

6. Release the Trip Meter "RESET" button
7. Turn the ignition switch to the "OFF" position
8. Turn the ignition to the "ON" position and confirm that the service maintenance reminder light goes out.

Turn the ignition key to the ACC or LOCK position with the odometer (not trip meter) reading shown. Turn the ignition key to the ON position while holding down the trip meter reset button. Hold down the knob for at least five seconds. The odometer indicates "000,000" and the light should go off.

If you have the smart key in your pocket:
1. Push the "Power" button once.
2. If necessary, push "Odo/Trip" button until odometer is displayed
3. Push "Power" once to shut off.
4. Push and hold "Odo/Trip" button
5. Push "Power" twice whild holding "Odo"
6. The mile digits will turn to dashes and then disappear one by one
7. When it is fully reset, it will change to "000,000", light goes off.
8. Release "Odo" button
9. Push "Power" button off.
10. All Done!
