Major Design Defect

I've just noticed that the center speaker in my JBL 10 speaker system is not. That is, it is not centered! It is at least 1.5" off center. How can a center speaker not be centered!!?? Hello!?

I doubt Toyota will want to correct this issue, which is pretty glaring in my mind. Do you think the lemon law would apply here?

It could be by design, based on the way sound reflects within the vehicle. A car is a very difficult environment to place audio equipment like speakers and microphones.
 
I can't imagine that they couldn't center it. So now I have to decide whether to try & reposition it or sell the vehicle.

You can't be serious about selling it just because of a speaker?! Is the speaker offset to the left or right? It may be on purpose relative to the driver's position on the left. I'm not an audiologist but I suppose the dash's shape, especially the binnacle hood over the main cluster gauges has something to do with the acoustic placement.

Since it took you almost five years to realize this, then I would say that it is no big issue. I know you are more more of a man than that.
 
My unpainted cladding is fading in a bad way (stripes), the vehicle sits lopsided at times, and the driveshaft clunks. However, mysteriously the fart smell of the Cat, the moon-roof rattle, and the driver

Lemon laws are for safety issues that can not be repaired. Cosmetic, rattles, creaks, etc... do not qualify for this. I would take a look at a few more before you make the assumption your speaker being off center is a defect. If there are others out there then what you are seeing may be normal.

It just might be that because the instrument cluster hump has to rise just to left of the radio they needed more of a flat spot to mount the grill and speaker, thus it's off a little to the right?!? Not sure I don't have the center channel or like others stated for audio purposes?!?
 
I just don't care to live in a world like this where everything isn't perfectly symmetrical! Oh the humanity! :sobbing:
 
Sounds a little picky to me but to each their own...

I just took delivery of my new 4Runner yesterday with a deep scratch on the left front fender area...

If your speaker bothers you I can only imagine what this would do to you :-)

If we get a petition going, we'd probably win a class action law suit for false advertising.

Did you know the cabin air filter is in the glove box on the passenger side? That means the air on the driver's side is "less clean" than the passenger area.

Oh now that's just plain silly!:bash: (I'm jiggy with the class action law suit thing though - un-centered center speaker - we can't let 'em get away with it!)
