Major flaws?

Hi all i'm new to the board as of today. Some tweaker lady ran a stop sign and smahed up my ford taurus and did not have insurance. So we decided that it is time to buy a 4runner that we have always wanted. My wife, 3kids and dog should fit nicley. My question is that this would be the first time I would buy a 4runner and am curious if there is a any major flaws? Like the Taurus was known for bad transmissions. Anything similar for the 1st , 2nd gens? I tryed the search but just kept saying no results.

Any opinions are welcome

No choice on the v6 or v8 as of yet. Still in the process of looking.

Aso for haulin trailers, I got my big old 1968 Chevrolet 3/4 Ton C20 for that. Running a nice fat 350 with hugh tranny and rear end. So it seems that the V6 would probably be best. As ytou ocan tell I like my old pickup
