Major floor pan rust repair

Yesterday I teared apart the interior to pressure wash all the carpeted areas of the car.

I was met with this horror right here

I was wondering what gauge of steel would be the best for this repair ?

I will be cutting the whole affected area and re-weld a new sheet in.

It also seems as if the meeting point for the body and frame is rusted too. If its completely gone, I will have to fab up a new mount.

So yeah, what kind of gauge would you guys recommend ? 20 ? 22 ?, my welder can go up to 26 I think, but I'd like to stay in the 22-16 range.

Fugly! What does the undercarriage look like? I'd go with the thickest guage i could afford/work with. Luck. :cowboy:

Geeze I thought I was looking at a VW Beetle.
You must have had an interior water leak for that to happen.

For the two months I had it, the interior always seemed dry and never notice any leaks. The rest of the interior is rust free, only driver floor seems affected.
There is also the possibility that the PO's didin't use a rubber floor mat and all the salty water from boots and such pooled over time.

Undercarriage looks surprisingly okay. I mean, its a rust belt car, but for what it is, the frame is solid. I called up my local metal shop, I will visit them soon to see what king of stock the have. Thanks for the good spirits !
