Making a second gen more comfortable

So after an 8 hr wheeling trip Saturday, ive come to a conclusion.

I love my 2nd gen, and plan on keeping it for a while, but at the same time i find it not too comfortable at all. At about 6'1", 195lbs, i feel cramped in the drivers seat. I feel like my knees are in my chest when i drive it. And i find the factory 2nd gen seats extremely uncomfortable and hard. After a good day of wheeling i usually end up with a sore back at the end of the day.

My question is what can i do to make my runner more comfortable for me? Are there any hidden secrets to get more comfort? And do any of the newer year 4runner front seats fit in a 2nd gen? I can imagine a 2000+ 4runner seat would be more comfy than a 95. Thanks for any advice

How about aftermarket seats like Recaro, etc?

Id rather not spend a ton of money for a pair of seats. Especially just to take them out in the woods and trash them. I would rather pick up a set of factory yota seats from a junkyard. Thanks for the suggestion though!

im 6 foot and asked the same type question a out my 2nd gen runner. my 85 sr5 ext cab has way more leg room. I am going to look at the seat rails and see if i can get the seat to slide farther back

Bride seats are pretty darn comfortable. I have been in rally cars with them.

I am 6'2" and have plenty of room is my 4runner. Maybe some seats just get jammed up and won't go back all the way.

I believe this to be true. Mine goes back almost to the rear seat. Granted I'm at 5'6" on a good day. Everytime I go to a shop, I can't reach the pedals when I get it back.

That said, I've considered swapping seats out of another vehicle myself. Maybe a Buick. I've never been in a Buick with uncomfortable seats.

true, while the brides, recaro's, sparco's, etc would be alot more comfortable, i just cant spend $500 per seat, just to go out and subject it to dirt, mud, dust, and water.

after doing a little more research, i found that 4crawler did a write up on raising the factory seats, maybe thatll help a little. I still would love to find out if the seats out of a 2000+ would fit though.

Also note that its not the legroom im referring to that makes me feel uncomfortable. I have plenty of legroom to stretch out. Its the fact that the seats feel like they are only an inch off the floor is what gets me. I feel like im sitting on the floor of the truck instead of a seat.
