malfunction light

I used an inverter (radioshack) last week on a camping trip to charge cell phones and digital cameras. this week my car is having trouble starting, and the malfunction light just came on. Iniitially I thought I was having battery problems, but now wondering if the inverter may have caused an electrical problem?

Anybody ever run into this?

Are you talking about the Check Engine Light? (CEL). If so, go get it checked out at Autozone or Checker's. They will tell you what the code is, which will tell you what is wrong with your car. I don't know how the inverter could've cause a problem. Is it hardwired or plugged into the cig. lighter?
