lol, the kegs are soon to be my "Qegg" (patent pending registered trademark all rights reserved etc..lol), building a sweet grill/smoker out of them. one of them is already chopped in two.

New accessory? You know how other companies have ax/shovel mounts, hi lift mounts, gas cans, awnings mounts and all that stuff.... You going to make a "Qegg" mount? Cook and camp for the weekend and then when you take down camp, roll it up top and clamp it down, much like what the US Navy does with their stuff on deck

hahaha, no, unfortunately i'm afraid i'll end up with a gob of hours into making that grill, plus, those stainless kegs are kinda hard to come by. i lucked out finding two for sale in my area.

Forgive me, I'm at school right now and had the rack shipped to my old mans office. Anyway, racks in dallas, I'm in norman. Had my mom send me these when the rack got in...more of the same I know but a few more close ups, I will take a plethora when the rack is in my possession
In other news me and my pops split the rack for my 21st birthday, I thought it was a stretch even asking him if he'd split it with me, but the old man still has a few tricks up his sleeve. I talked to him when the rack got in and all was well, a week later I talked to him again. My pops is an older guy and knows alot of people, one of which tig welds for a living, the other works in the paint booth at the dealership in dallas. So! if anyone remembers, a while back I acquired some diamond mesh sheet metal? well my dad took the liberty of surprising me and not only completed the sunroof insert with an added support (all tig welded) but he also wanted to know what color I wanted it painted :guitar3:
The old man has now Idea how much time and money he saved me by getting it painted, I was going to have to do it in my garage here in norman when I had time outside of school. but anyway, yeah, theres some updates, I asked my mom to please take pictures of every stage in the process so hopefully by the weekend I'll have some pics of the added mesh and by mid week next week it'll be all painted and sexy as hell

Got mine yesterday and mounted it up.... Love love it! Completely changes the look of the T4R
how easy/difficult was it to mount? got any tips to help me out when I finally mount mine this weekend (I've had it since April...)

WTF!? Lol, you are way more patient than I am! Put that thing on man. The easiest way is just what I mentioned above, getting the nuts started on one side at a time, then tighten all down. But first, Place the rack where you want it fore and aft and mark where the front pads will be, then proceed.
powder coating took forever; I just finally got it back from the powder coater a month ago, and it's been in the garage ever since then (I rarely go into the garage and only drive the 4Runner once a month or less, so I just forget about it...)

How are you mounting the plexi? I need to figure out a permanent mount for mine. It's currently tied down by zip ties.

I have been thinking about how to mount a fairing on one. I currently have one of the small Yakima fairing on my Yakima cross bars and have one of the old big fairings and mounting brackets in my storage closet. i think between those two and the mounting brackets something should work. Now i just need to get the funds for a rack.....lol:crybaby:

i have thought about using cushion clamps (http://dmpfasteners.com/shop/images/old shop and web pics 041.jpg ) if my zip ties would ever break. Should be a cinch to mount something with small stainless hardware and would be more permanent than a zip tie, though mine have been on for almost 2 years.

I welded on these small trick tabs. Already threaded with 1/4-20, and hex bolts included.

yep, those tabs are sweet. I've also done weld-in threaded inserts before too, can't remember who for though.
