Yeah the Man v. Wild show is one of my current favorites. Best one IMO was where he bit the head off the live snake, spit it out, then chowed down on the rest while it was still wiggling. Must have made Ozzy proud. I'd like to see him do battle against Survivorman though, that dude doesn't have the benefit of a camera crew in (I presume) a nice tent wherever they go.

Survivor Man is a horrible show. He starts fires with flint/magnesium and he even used a gun to start one once. He always brings things with him like a pocket knife or "survival kit." In half of his episodes he will state that he is testing a certain product to see how it aids him in his 7 days (or however long the span is for that episode.)

I used to think the Man Vs. Wild was better than Survivorman UNTIL I had a friend who did the rigging for Bear out on the Utah episode. He said that Bear didn't know anything and that he was just an actor and that there were like 5 or more people with him all the time. People for rigging, local guides, film crew, etc. I lost respect for him there. At least Survivorman does it all himself!!! Hauls his own camera gear and everything. Sure he has a sat phone available in case of danger but so would I. At least he doesn't have an entourage! Bear does extreme stuff like biting off heads of snakes just so you'll watch him. Otherwise he doesn't know anything. What Survivorman is trying to do is educate you and tell you to always take a multitool wherever you go.

I like Man vs Wild is excellent and I do watch it , but give me a break the guy has a whole camera crew with him , and your worrying about someone using something to start a fire , 90% of the time he does it by hand , films all his own stuff carries all his camera equipment with him and survival is using what you can find laying around to survive.
Oh and by the way (Bear) , he and his show is under investigation for using motels and what not during taping of the show. Yes , sad but true. still interesting to watch though.

If you never notice is is outfitted with some pretty nice clothing for survival.
Both shows are entertaining and fun to watch though. I 've actually got some pretty good tips from watching Survivorman.

I think Survivorman is more realistic, but I find both shows entertaining. I think both shows offer good advice but I have more respect for Les Stroud (Survivorman) because he does everything himself.
Discovery and History channels have some of the most entertaing shows on tv, in my opinion of course.
