my plans for long term are to do a crate 4.7 and super charge it with a 6 speed from a fj or xrunner etc im 99% positive it will bolt up no problem other then that I havent researched it these plans are years from now when I have another nicer vehicle to replace this and i can start not caring about it more and more and be brave enough to tackle something like this

Well, if you've got some money, why not just buy a TRD supercharger for the v8? They pop on eBay from time to time. Then you could just get a 6spd, and, if need be, get a custom Bellhousing made? Shouldn't be too strenuous of work, just a lot of it.

I have the 4.7 now but it has 129k miles on it and i can imagine once installed Ill be driving like a D-bag nonstop and probably blow the motor so was thinking when it gets closer to 200k miles Ill get a hefty loan and do six speed fresh supercharged motor and probably long travel be a whole new truck then finding one isnt really a major issue I havent looked for one but have seen them just know that putting one on a motor this late is probably asking for trouble
Is that possible? I was under the impression the supercharger will not work on the 4Runner V8 because the ECU is different and actually works against the supercharger and can blow the motor really easily. That's why they stopped making them.
I would love a supercharger, for the grin factor, but don't know if it's possible.

They're discontinued because the US v8s have cast connecting rods, which got snapped real easily. In japan, the v8s have forged connecting rods, which is why it is POSSIBLE to get them still.
Edit: It's only possible with the TRD for 03-04, BEFORE VVT-i.
Ahh, I gotcha. Ya that vvt-i is awesome stuff, but I can see how it could mess up the programming. There is a company working on these engines to push out crazy numbers, but it's going to be super expensive. Would be pretty cool to have 800 horsepower though... :lookout:

Those twin turbo setups for the supra? If that's what you're talking about, I've seen that, but I doubt it'll fit as the engine barely fits, as is.
There is a company called lextreme and they have and are working on some major stuff for the 1uz, 2uz and 3uz motors. Here is a link to that specific engine. Lexus-Toyota 1UZFE, 2uzfe 3uzfe performance Long Block

It's pretty insane numbers that can be accomplished. They basically found all the weak points in an otherwise great motor, and completely make it bulletproof and ready to rip! I would say it would have to be a street pounder, and I'm sure you would have to do some serious strengthening of the rest of the powertrain, but would be really fun with a FAT wallet! :zoom: :zoom:

I will have to say that I've read a few posts and other writing that seems to suggest this is more or less a rumor started by a forum. I tried to find out if there really was a difference but I haven't come up with anything to be honest.
I'm not saying I don't believe it, just that I haven't found evidence one way or another (I believe some of that information was on the Lextreme forums also.)
In any case, you need a stand alone ECU if you use the TRD Supercharger, I think even the Tundras did also if I remember right.
