Manually opened throttle body: issues?

I just got my first 4th gen 4Runner after having 3 3rd gens and a taco. I cleaned the TB the other day and manually opened the butterfly to clean it. Now I have read that is not good since it is electronic. Did I mess something up and how will I know if I did?

Someone else may be able to clarify, but having 20+ yrs in electronics, there is not much that you would hurt as long as the engine wasn't running while you manually opened it.

That being said... I did the same thing to mine along with cleaning the MAF sensor. I went ahead and pulled the negative terminal off of the battery for 30 min to reset the ECU. If you run into any issues than try resetting the ECU.

Well whether it runs smoothly is another question that is separate from TB. I did the MAF and TB as well so I will probably just reset the ECU. Just wanted to see if I messed anything up

As long as you did the throttlebody cleaning with the vehicle OFF then you're fine. The issue arises when you do it with the key ON as the ECM is powering the TPS and Throttle Body motor which could cause damage by forcing it.
