Map light question

Looking for a way to make the map lights turn on when the door is opened and off when door closes. I saw that if the map lights are turned on and then the car door is locked from outside, then they go off after a short while. They will come back on when the door is opened but they don't turn themselves off after a set time or when the ignition is turned on.

Any way to get them to act like most other cars and turn on/off when opening the door?

It's been done. Search for the map light mod (there is also a link to the thread in my post in a mod sticky at the start of one of the forums.)
