I have 2010 and it worked for me. What happens when you insert the DVD? It should be working on 2013 as well.
I did a lot of searching and found a post from blackworks stating what was different for 2013. Looks like Toyota lost their mind on this, then got over it in 2014.
Looks like I use my phone and Google when needed.
I bought that same one a couple of months ago for my 2010 Trail .After reading the posts I checked ebay and found a 2017 update for $13.95 and ordered it. It's for 2010 to 2013 4Runners.
Will find out next week if it's for real.
The info is in your manual . The Nav DVD has its own separate port that it goes into .So did the DVD work for the 2013? I bought one from a highly rated eBay seller and it supposedly works, however I inserted the disk into the center console and it states "Check Disc." How did it work on the 2013?
I read somewhere that there is a separate disc that needs to be ejected first, but I have no idea where that would be and it's not in any specs that I have found for the 4runner.
Is the navigation system with the current disc located somewhere else in the vehicle besides the center console?
Just curious. What if I copied files from a new 2018 model 4Runner to the SD card in my 2016 model? Technically it should work unless there is a firmware revision mismatch. Any ideas? Having the navigation data on a removable SD card makes it very convenient.
Note to self: Make a backup copy of the existing SD card in my radio, just in case.

I have tried to look for the nav port in the owner's manual, the navigation system manual, and scoured the internet. I am beginning to think the 2013 4Runner does not have one...or Toyota hid it very, very well and decided not to tell anyone where it was.
Question: how did you actually install the update from the disk? I have no idea where the dvd nav slot is. I bought the same disk, but I don't know where the Nav Unit is to replace the old disk. It's for real, I bought same DVD on ebay and it works.
My manual doesn't exactly give me step by step directions about replacing the DVD. I've been looking and trying to take apart the head unit for a couple weeks, but to no avail. The info is in your manual . The Nav DVD has its own separate port that it goes into .
