Max trax?

I use TRED:

Had them mounted to my FJ. There is a guy on the FJ Forums who is a distributor and can get them very fairly priced.

His site is way out of date. Give Luke and the gang a call or email. They are usually good about responding.

Numerous fronts have popped up and his rear, which I have, is starting to make its rounds too. They do top notch work but you do pay for it.

Just got a pair too. Good reviews. Made in Taiwan, NOT the communist bully of Asia.
We'll see how they do. I travel in California deserts and taking I-40 from So Cal to Texas Christmas 'til New Year. IF I ever need them, we'll see...

I realize this post is from years ago, but it's worth a shot. For the maxtrax mount, did you have to drill into the factory crossbar or did you find a way around that?

Have had the set of Maxsa traction boards for over a year now and they've held up great after more than a few uses. Only downfall is that they don't nest within each other cleanly like the maxxtrax do. 20161120_145926.jpg

So while I have never personally used either, I have seen both Maxtrax and TredPro's in action and compared them to each other in person. I would say there is no discernible difference between those two. They have very much the same design and build quality. I went with TredPro's to be a little different although as good as they are I can see them becoming just as popular as MaxTrax.

The others I have seen like the Smittybilt are not even close in quality
 
Figured I'd chime in with something a bit different than the Maxtrax vs replica... I picked up a pair of HD Waffle Boards for $130 ~ about the same as the Maxtrax replicas, but no real compromise other than the weight. They are somewhat hefty at just a bit over twice the weight of the Maxtrax. With that being said, they can easily support the weight of the vehicle over gaps/ledges, work great for traction, and while they probably cake up with mud just as much as the Maxtrax and replicas, its easier to knock the mud out since its clear through to the other side.

I bought a set of these as well but so far have not had to use them. Glad to hear that they have held up for others who have used them. It would be nice if they nested closer together, but for the price i can't complain.
