May 2016 Meet and Run

Any of those spots sounds good as long as my boys and I can go wheelin. I'm a maybe right now being that it's memorial day weekend. Other half may have plans.

Killing me here, I laughed so hard my boss was like wtf? I'm supposed to be working, hahah.

Was actually going to say Calico or Anza, haven't been to either one yet, and I don't care whether it's easy or hard. Big Bear is going to be packed that weekend, make no mistake.

While yes, we've been on multiple runs with lots of rigs, we've also been really fortunate that none of the trails we've been on have been very crowded. Makes for an easy day of tooling around and as long as we're moving the kids aren't getting bored and everyone stays happy

Now you get up into some of the more popular trails on a busy holiday weekend and you have multiple groups with multiple rigs all trying to run the same trail, not to mention a bunch of solo drivers looking to get out for the day, and you turn a 2 hour trail into an 8 hour trail just trying to figure out how people are going to pass through. If that's the case, then I might as well setup on a yellow post with an ice chest full of beer, a chair, a bbq, and wave at people stuck on the trail and sell beers and hot dogs for 10 bucks each.

That's where I'm coming from. fcker. =P

No I know what you were saying and I completely agree, but it's one day with a bunch of homies out on the trails sometimes you just gotta say F it and roll with it.

That's why you tell the other half you made the plans this year for the family, it's a surprise!! But I will give you a hint ...we're gonna have a good time I promise.

I'll probably camp this time, so you better come hangout and have a beer with me. I've heard Calico has some craziness in their trails, time to put my sliders to work this time since my skid plates got their loving Saturday?

See I'm telling you guys this will be a badass trip even for the family ....
And there's way more to this place they also have trails like we just did with bypasses the whole entire time like a chain link/figure eight also going in and out of caves/mining tunnels along the way...
 
Dang I have a wedding to attend on the 28th but...if you guys plan something for the weekend I can make it out to Sunday or Monday runs.
 
I'm down to go pre run this with somebody to go check out the current conditions of the trails and to make sure it's possible for everyone to make it or atleast have some outs and bypasses available.
We can mark GPS tracks and drop waypoints along the way then create a file that everyone could load up into a GPS unit or google maps, google earth etc. this would also allow people to go in intervals and not get lost. Maybe the 14th? My son's birthday is the 16th but that's the Saturday I want to take him to go do something. I've got a handheld GPS that I can use to mark tracks and way points. I'm going to ask him what he wants to do for his birthday, and "steer" him towards off roading :behindsofa: but once he makes his mind up it's anybody's guess where we'll end up. Let me see what the next couple weekends look like. If my ex does an early pickup, I could even do a Sunday day trip.

Does anyone know the screen name for the gentleman that was my trail clean up for last Saturday's run. First name was Kaz or Cas in a badass black or dark grey 5th gen. Any help would be appreciated.

Yeah my parents used to take my sister and I there when we were kids, I've been looking for a reason to take him there anyhow. So we can check out the trails, then check out the town. I'll keep you posted. If he keeps getting in trouble at school (twice this week and it's only Tuesday) he's not doing a damned thing for his birthday.
