Alright guys I just the all clear to go ahead and pre-run the Calico mountains for tomorrow. Anybody who wants to join is more than welcome too.

This Rig and it's driver man handled some serious trail sections in Calico today. We got a taste of Doran Loop a couple a couple times which is all we needed to steer clear, did Wall Street in reverse and we were welcomed with a 4-5ft waterfall drop off after a couple lil 2ftr's, then it mellowed out for minute literally, then introduced to another one and this one left its marks on both of us. Covered just a lil over 40 miles of trails in almost exactly 5hrs and we didn't even scratch the surface of this area. The views and terrain seriously unbelievable.

Also the original thought plan of camping in mule canyon ....not gonna happen no way. It's an absolute dump and complete war zone of scumbags behind the triggers. I don't even want to drive any of you through it, it's that bad.

Mule Canyon is a no go - i was not a fan of driving through there once - the 2nd time sealed the deal

That's sad to hear. Any thoughts on an alternative camp grounds?

Yeah go on google maps in that area and type in Tyler's Camp Stop its in a cool looking rock cove just west of calico on the other side of fort Irwin Rd it's on about a 20 min desert trail ride the kind you mash out on and it has some great trails around it and that go directly to calico entering the Wall Street trail or enter from the north side and cross coyote dry lake which looks awesome and onto Starbright Mine Rd then to Tin Can Alley to W Phillips Rd to E Phillips Rd etc

Tyler's Camp Stop is in the Opal Mountains and Black Mountain Wilderness just on the other side of Fort Irwin Rd which will keep us out of the craziness and everyone and our belongings safe out of harms way.

Honestly camping anywhere in the canyons of the calico mountains is just crazy if it not a bullet flying by you or a quad,dirt bike and razors coming around, over thru each cove and camping areas. Could only imagine at night. I seen fire pits with Canopies,chairs whatever else in them. It's an offroad mayhem free for all in the calicos it seems. Sad actually cause the place and terrain is amazing and all of the colors of landscape and rock is really cool ...mines and tunnels for days and days

Almost sounds like I don't want to camp. Too busy for my liking. I prefer to be away from all that shit.
 
Thanks for doing that Pre-run. Sound like you got a bunch of good info. I've been extremely busy with work the last few weeks, and driving back from NorCal today, so I wasn't able to make the prerun. But, I will definitely be going next week. Sounds like it's going to be a blast!!!
 
hopefully I can still go. wife's got a 103 fever and possible kidney infection. if she's not better by saturday, I probably won't be going. If she's better she may even come with. not forcing it. prerun looked fun!
 
I have my tent trailer ready to go. New tires, bearings repacked, new battery and new 15w solar panel with voltage regulator. I am ready to camp.

I made a 3 piece flag pole and just printed out some templates that I will cut out and tape together for the 3 x5 flag I will paint up after my wife irons it for me.

Tyler's camping stop looks OK from Google Earth. It looks like a dry lakebed that someone did a whole bunch of donuts on.
