May be upgrading my Runner! =D

So, I have had the new runner itch for awhile lately, pretty much since my hubby got his '08 Tundra Limited earlier this year, my truck has seemed under endowed, and blah compared to his, lol. I currently have an '07 SR5 2WD V6, with no bells and whistles, not even powered seats, which my last two vehicles did have. I've found a fantastic looking runner online about an hour away from us, it's an '06 Limited V8 4x4 in silver, with all the bells and whistles, leather seats n all, minus a dvd player and we might be going to check it out today or tomorrow, I am so EXCITED!! I even researched and compared other suv's last night, and nothing and I mean nothing, compares to the runner in reliabilty, I heart runners, I don't think I'll ever drive anything else!

Wish us luck, this is one excited lady over here! =D

Good Luck!!! I have an 03 V8 Limited and by far this is my favorite vehicle I've owned. Once you drive that 06 you'll want to buy it!!

Didn't get it...

Well guys, I didn't get it, as soon as I got there and got within 5 feet of it, I knew I wasn't going to like it. It looked great in pictures, but in person, it had defects all over it. Chipped and scratched up paint, the plastic on the back bumper was badly faded, the rims were horrible!! All the paint or whatever is on rims was all peeling off and it looked like someone had tried to paint something over the peeling paint at one point, which made it look all bubbly. I hardly bothered to look inside, but I did and it wasn't much better. *sigh*
I walked around the lot and found an FJcrusier, never been in one. So, I checked it out and test drove, it was okay, fun to drive, but terrible visability, there was something wrong with the side mirror and the paint looked like it was having issues in places, just didn't feel right for me.

So, driving home I was feeling a bit upset, but glad that we checked it out before we did any serious considerations, and thought, is it going to be like this a lot, looking at used Runners with high milage (it had 90k+) mine only has 60k. My truck is not amazing, it has it's scratches and little dings because I bought it used and it was previously a rental vehicle, but I know the dings, and I've kept it very clean, and when it's waxed/clay barred, it looks fantastic! It's the galatic gray color, which I love. When we pulled in the drive way and I saw my runner there, I felt really sad thinking about trading her in. And now, have yet to tell hubs, I'm not trading it in, I love it way too much and it has been good to me!

Plan B- Going to tell hubs when he's home from work I want to keep my truck, just improve it a little. With a steelcraft bull bar, weathertech wind/rain deflectors and a bug deflector for the hood, I would be one happy lady if I had those on my runner! I think he'll agree spending about $350 on some accessories, is a lot cheaper than spending 3-5k on a new/well older than my own, vehicle! :bluejump:

I had the same thing happen to me when I was looking for my 4Runner. There was an '06 SE that was a little over an hour from my house. I e-mailed the sales guy and asked him if there were any defects and let him know I was driving over an hour to see it. Of course he said it was in great shape and it wasn't. He either didn't care enough to go look at the car before telling me that or lied to get me out there hoping to make a deal. I test drove it just because I was there already and wanted to see what the V8 felt like. Once I got on and off the highway a couple of times I went home and never regretted not buying it.

It's harder and harder to find a 4th gen in good shape. Those of us that love our 4Runners and baby them aren't selling them anytime soon.

Yes, I agree, it is really hard to find a 4th gen, especially one with higher miles in decent well cared for condition and it's really a shame, these are really amazing vehicles, they should last forever! Glad you did finally find one that's was in good shape, I'm sure it's very babied! Mine looks better than when we got it, we always make sure to keep it waxed every 3-6 months, and my hubby recently clay barred it, which made it look amazing. I was disppointed when I first got it because it had so many scratches and scuffs (like you, the dealer said it looked great and we drove over 2 hours to see it! But it was clearly used, but still in plenty of good shape), but detailing it has really removed a lot, and you can't even tell when you stand back 5 feet, lol.

UPDATE!! Hubby got home from work, I told him I didn't want to trade my vehicle and that I would be perfectly happy to just add some accessories to it, he completly agreed!! I now have a black steelcraft bull bar, wind deflectors (light for the front, dark for the back) and a bug defector for the hood ordered, hopefully will be here next week, I am so, so excited!!!:biggrin2: And hubby finally let me order him some digital fit weather tech floor mats for his tundra,(already have 'em in mine) that I know he'll love! =)

I thought about that! Lol, we actually looked at lift kits, but wouldn't want to get one until we can afford bigger tires/rims. I thought about it last night, I remember more little things I wanted to do, waiting til he gets up to see what he thinks. =) I forgot that I've wanted a magnaflow for it for a long time and a new chrome tip. Also would like to swap out the interior lights for the bright white ones, would like to get a painted rear spoiler and....okay, that's all I can think of right now, kinda want the magnaflow first though!

The white lights look nice! But, my hubby said they look like a pain to install, lol. I don't really mind the orance, since it matches everything else, lol.

Called around, and found a nice place that will sell and install an 18" Magna flow for $203, not to bad for Cali I don't think. Husband says I have to wait a little bit, but I def. can get it later this year. =)

I do the installation, it couldn't be easier on your part. Just ship em to me and I do the hard work.

I got my magnaflow installed for $200 so $203 ain't bad!
