May have made the wrong choice with a lift, can I get some advice?

Hi folks

2021 TRD Offroad with KDSS

I basically did a shit ton of research and weighed my usage scenario of the truck and pulled the trigger on this lift. I have KDSS so i wanted to keep the lift mild. I decided i wanted ~2.5" up front and 1.5-2" in the rear. I dont carry much extra weight, aluminum roof rack and rock sliders, under 100 lb probably.


So my research (which i may have screwed up) said to buy:

Bilstein 5100s all 4 corners
ARB(OME) 2885 up front
ARB(OME) 2895e in rear
Spacer to correct lean
JBA Upper control arms.

So i buy all this and get an email from TDOT Performance (was trying to buy in canada where i live) saying:

As per ARB USA, Part 2895 will not fit the TRD PRO. The correct option for the rear spring with a Spring Rate of 260 lbf / in is:

ARB USA 2889 - This is slightly cheaper so we can issue the refund

Since the spring rate matched, and they claimed it was for a 2.0 rear lift, i said OK! sure do the exchange and sent it

Now im reading that those coils may infact cause a 3" rear lift and be waaay too stiff with no weight.

Did i screw up? Think Ill be ok with what they shipped?

2885 front and 2889 rear will give you 3" of lift all around. the 2895e would have given 2" rear lift at same spring rate.

Also be aware that 2895e and 2895 are different heights too. 2895e=2", 2895=2.5" rear lift

With no weight in the rear, yes the 260lb springs can ride a little rough; more like "a truck".

yeah crap. Dont know why they said they wouldnt fit, i guess they arent an "official" coil for the 5th gen. Now the fun part, i need to see if they will let me return them and eat the shipping as its kind of their screwup.

Yea that is weird as between all the 4runner models the rear spring fitment would all be the same. Only front springs on the PRO would be different due to larger shocks.

You shouldn't need a spacer for the lean if you are not removing the KDSS, as the KDSS will automatically correct the lean ( so I've read).

The TRD Pro does not have KDSS and therefore will need a spacer to correct the lean.

This is backwards. KDSS causes lean in lifted rigs and doesn't correct itself automatically. Not all lifted rigs with KDSS suffer from lean and some can correct it by re calibrating. Otherwise you can use the spacer or a coil designed to compensate for the lean. (Longer coil)

Correct, I had 2883 and with NO extra weight I was at 2" exactly. 2884 would put you at 2.5, 2885 at 3" all with no weight. 2886 is for added weight.

why are they even mentioning the trd pro. he doesnt have a trd pro. and he bought 5100's so any lift from a trd pro setup is not a factor anyways. Find a new shop. and double check your part numbers lol. bilstein has a good rear spring btw. as does wheelers.
