Mechanical Problem Need Help

Let me explain my problem.

I had a person run into the back of my 2006 toyota 4runner sport about 2 years ago. I got it fixed and from that point on my back windshield wiper as well as the wiper fluid in the back has not worked. Interestingly enough I can roll down my back window from the button on the inside but can no longer do this from the keyless entry. I should have just gotten it repaired at the time from the people who did it but I was moving around with my job and had literally a full slate for 4 months after it was repaired and eventually just forgot about it because I never used it. I would like to try and repair this and was wondering if anyone had any ideas on where I could check if something is unplugged or any help at all would really help. I honestly believe it would be an easy problem to fix if I know what I was doing and had the proper tools. I am very car illiterate and would like the expertise of the forum.

yes it doesn't work either. so my keyless remote won't roll down my back window. and the wiper and the fluid won't go on my back window. I tried opening up a panel on the trunk and all i saw was a brown/yellow bag that looked like it was filled with gel or fluid. not sure what it was. I would like to fix the problem though

not sure what "bag" your talking about, maybe the plastic cover to get into the components of the trunk.. Did the "bag" cover the whole panel when you took the plastic off? If so no biggie, cut a hole in the plastic or pull it back. Go inside and see if something is unplugged. Sounds like something somewhere has came apart.

you are right it was just a plastic cover over the electronics. I took the back panel almost off, it was being stopped from being completely taken off by the handle that you can used to pull the back hatch down. if that makes sense. Every wire i saw that could possibly be plugged in was plugged in. I really would like some insight into this problem. I check the front of the car, the wires underneath the steering wheel to see if maybe the wire that goes from the signal on the steering wheel to the back was disconnected but I really have no clue what I am looking for. If anyone can help me I would appreciate it!

Does the one touch auto up/down on the rear window work? If not, you'll need to "normalize" the rear window again.

To normalize the window, fully open the window and then hold the open position on the switch for a few seconds. Then close the window and hold the close position on the switch for a few seconds. Check to see if the auto up/down functionality have been restored.

This isn't the exact step Toyota wants you to take, but it's worked for me every time I needed to do it after disconnecting the battery.

The defroster and rear wiper won't work if the rear window hasn't been normalized.

I tried this. IF I am doing it correctly I can roll down the back window (the window that is on the "trunk") from inside of my car. I did what you said and it still did not work.

If it was a Dealer or Reputable Repair Shop and you still live in the area, I feel they will help you at no charge. Plus, some repairs have a Lifetime Warr w/o knowing the fine details. That was some bad timing with the job matters and I understand your need then and now. I feel they would help even if it takes a call or e-mail. There are still some honest and understandable people still out there, “Trust Me”!!

Last, in the rear even if the “related wires” (to motors and switches) are connected I would disconnect and reconnect 2-3 times to clean the connections. OR! Use an ohmmeter on both sides of the connection to know you have a good connection. Good Luck! jow

please any additional information would really help me. I really have no clue what wires I am looking for in the front of the car and the back of the car. I do not know how to take the trunk frame completely off it keeps getting stuck. Thanks
