Yeah...I've been there. I've stripped quite a few screws in my day and broken plenty, but for every thing I've broken, I've fixed two. When I was first starting out (which is still happening), I kept having to come on here to ask questions to make sure stuff wasn't broken, and I've had to take my car into a shop to have them check out my handiwork and fix my mistakes. But it's all about sticking with it and not being afraid to kick some things off and get creative with your tools. Everything in a car works pretty logically and things usually fit together really well. Just keep at it and keep your head up!
On another note, I'd never heard of JIS! I think I need to get me some of those drivers because I constantly strip the hell out of screws. Especially the ones that are made of really soft metal like the ones that hold my radio on.
