Metal Tire Valve Caps

I ran metal caps on my 02 Taco 4X4 for years with no problem. If you are concerned about the caps fusing on the stems, just put a small amount of anti-seize or a dab of lithium grease on the threads. And, like the other posts stated, check your air pressure periodically!

I have to laugh at you guys thinking someone other than your OCD self would ever grease the threads on a valve cap. Truth is you don't even need a valve cap! They are there to protect the core from dust and dirt, nothing else. [MENTION=50186]adio3x[/MENTION] they make a guard for the stem and cap.

I can see a mom now: Leaving work, seeing her TPMS light on, stopping at a gas station, pulling her tube of grease out of the console and greasing the threads after she puts air in the tire.
Hell I check my tire pressure regularly and I wouldn't grease the threads, especially when all I have to do is run a plastic cap to keep from having to do that crap.

I hardly have ever checked the air in my tires, and when I have, it is always the same pressure, I guess a benefit from living in Miami where the temp does not get low, and for the times it does, I do not go any where anyway. Also, seems it gets checked when I get my oil changed, so I do not ever really worry about it.

I am thinking though, I cannot recall ever being concerned over air pressure at all, even when I lived in PNW and the MW, maybe the variance in the pressure just was not enough for me to be concerned with (big truck, big tires).

Someone here was making brass caps out of spent ammo casings.
That seemed cool, but no clue if they'd fuse to the aluminum stem.

Yeah... I'm running plastic caps. But if someone did want to run metal they should definitely toss some grease on them regularly. Every time they were undone is probably excessive...

They're 5 bucks a set on ebay.
