Just got a chance to test out my new Michelin AT2 tires in snow this last weekend. When I purchased them I was afraid that they would be a compromise from traction tires I have had in the past but they impressed me in the snow. It was only about 12" of snow on back country road but traction was good and I was able to turn around just fine. They are also great on wet pavement. Will have to wait for spring to see how they do in slippery wet dirt road conditions.

I guess I never figured that t4r owners are average - lol. I am still getting to know the traction control system. The noise from the traction system is a little distracting - sounds a little like something is breaking.
Most of the time I am not driving in 12" of snow either except when I head up to our cabin or snowmobiling.

I will try to get a picture up. I ran BFG TA KOs on my last 2 4x4s and they are great tires. In the stock size 265/65/17, they are only avail in E load range. I ran a set of Es on my explorer for 2 wks when the store put the wrong ones on and had to order replacements and did not like the stiffness. I got 60,000 miles on each set of BFGs and removed with 6/32 tread. They are by far the best all around tire. I consider these Michelins as a good alternative.

I run these Michelins also, for about 10-15k miles now. No complaints about them really. They do handle the snow well, but I m in New Mexico, so nothing major, like extreme Canada or NE snow, but I have had them up the back road of our local mountains in more than a few inches of snow few times and they did great. Drove up to Colorado during the holidays and had to travel some snow packed roads and they did great.
Took them through some muddy rutty, very sloppy roads a few days ago and they did well, my only complaint there is that they are not very good in the self cleaning department until you get them up at higher RPMs. I ran the Falken Rocky Mountain ATS before and they cleaned themselves out real well. However, I ended up in that mud by coincidence. I don't like mud, and don't ever really plan on going through it on purpose, and we really don't get too much in New Mexico.
They do well in loose dirt/sand as well, which we do have a lot of.
They are supposed to last a while, I had no decrease in MPG, and they are quiet on the road, which is what I like most with an AT tire. They are more expensive than the average AT though.
