I have the AT2's.

I think you will love the tire being down in New Mexico.

Maybe where I live and go here in Colorado the tires were terrible in the snow.
As I mentioned before, when the snow is super deep they are awesome but in any other snow condition they were bad, especially in light slush.

I have had them for 3 or 4 years, maybe there was a tread redesign or my tires are defective since some have no issues?

Si, the tires have been put on. A little background on what came off: Brand new Falken Rocky Mountain ATS tires. Abou 6k mile son those. Had one replaced due to likely out of round, and had them balanced 5 times in 6k miles, with the last being a road force balance-it didn't work either. I liked them, they looked real nice, very aggresive look, and were pretty quiet otherwise, but walked all over road too.

The LTX AT/2 is awesome. Very quiet compared to what I had. Not silent, but quiet. With the window down I do here a sticky sound, which someone noted before I believe, but its not too bad(that was in a parking lot at low speed, don't know if I'd hear it at cruising speeds). They handle nice, and although they aren't as aggresive, I think they look really good.

I did immediately notice it felt different, almost like I lost power, but it was also the warmest day of the year we had yet, so could be due to the AC on warmer air. There may be more rolling resistance with the AT/2. MPG has dropped by about 4/10 of a gallon since they went on, could be my driving too. I will air them up today and see if that changes anything. As far as the power feeling, I'm already used to it, so its not a big deal.

They do NOT walk all over the road like the previous tires which I am VERY happy about. Even on crowned roads where the previous tires would pull no matter what, toward he low end of the road, these hold almost perfect. The best part is that they are balanced!!!!!!!!:bluejump: Over all, impressed so far. Next test-off road when I have time. :driving:

a little OT, but I had 2 sets of M/S and I will NEVER own another set

First set was less than 3 years old on a different vehicle that I never took off road and the bands separated.... the second set had the facing crackle like small shattered glass

I bought both sets brand new from Discount Tire

My brother in law on the other hand only has Michelons .. he and his wife have them on their daily drivers (the M/S version) and have never had a days trouble out of them ... I must have just got the lemons of the bunch ...

Kai, how are the LTX ATs now that you had some more time with them?

I wasn't sure what you meant by drop in mpg by 4/10 of a gallon, how many miles did you lose per gallon?

I'm thinking about getting a set soon. I know they're suppose to ride smoother and quieter on road compare to the BFG ATs but how are they off road?

Your input and feedback would be appreciated.

I think that was supposed to read 4/10 of a MPG. Negligible if anything.

I still like them. I've got about 16k on them. No complaints. The first time I had them rotated I had an issue getting them balanced, or rather Discount Tire could not balance them. At any rate, it wasn't the tire. Found an independent shop with people who know what they are doing and they've been fine since.

I've taken them on some mild off roading, nothing major. Feel sure footed in snow and decent on ice, no issues in rain(we don't get too much of that here though), but we do have sand and no complaints there either, they fell great in sand. Nice and quiet on pavement inside the car, but if I roll a window down and am at a speed slow enough to hear without a lot of wind noise, such as a parking lot, they do sound sticky, but this is not an issue with windows up or at highways speeds.

They are wearing well, and do clean up well. Overall, I don't really have any complaints, except that I should have gotten them in 265/70-17. I probably wouldn't pay full price for them, I was upgraded because of problems with my previous tire, they're pretty expensive. That might change once these are worn out, depending on what the end mileage on them is.
 
Thanks for the quick feedback Kai.

Considering what you said, they're definitely still on my choice list. I commute 45 miles round trip a day on the highway and maybe go light to moderate offroading one a month so these seem to accommodate my needs well.
 
I haven't tried these on my 4Runner, but have had them on my work truck for about 8 months ('11 F-150 Ecoboost). Traction is great, and they're very quiet, although I do agree, they have a sticky sound when you're at low speeds with the window open.

Only complaints I had were that they seem to hold a lot of pea gravel sized stones, and occasionally felt like I got a bit of oversteer on the highways (have since swapped trucks and this one has Goodyear SRA's for comparison on the oversteer).
 
Best Tires I've Ever Owned

Went to 265/70/17 and no rubbing unless fully turning with suspension compressed. SUPER quiet for such aggressive tread. So far, so good. It was between these and the Geolanders. Every tire pro told me the LTX are way better, even for road. Consumer Reports has these high on their list, too.

I bought from Clint x51816 @ discounttiredirect dot com (Hopefully this isn't redacted. It's rare to find great customer service, and he should be rewarded for it.)

I was blown away by Clint. Ordered Tues 11am and they arrived Wed 10am. Seriously. No tax, no shipping. Had Mr. Tire install. They were pretty great, too.
 
How are these holding up? Any recent updates? I've seen a few sets in person and it looks like a great tire.
 
Best tires I have ever purchased. We have them on our van and the installer guy who came out from behind the front desk just to have fun personally mounting good tires at TD said they are the only tire that never requires more than 3/4 ounce of weight and often is less than 1/2 per tire.
 
Excellent tires! Though I have the M/S version.

Have had 'em on for 25K in the snow where they track well, grip is solid when wet in the rain, corner nicely on the dry pavement and do nicely off pavement.

I had two sets before on my 4 x 4 Toyota pickup and the newer version does even better.

Highly recommended.
 
2008 limited, with 275/65/18. I've had mine for just over a year with almost 20k on them. Best tires I have owned, with my last 2 sets being bridgestone dueler revos. only downside is the price, but it seems that in this case you get what you pay for.

I do about 85% highway, and the rest is in light mud, gravel, and dirt roads. my personal experience in snow and rain on pavement has been extremely positive. I'm going to bet there are better off-road a/t tires out there, but for someone that does most of their driving on pavement with occasional mild off-road use, this tire is a perfect fit.
 
I'm really looking forward to getting these on the 4runner. Tires are the single most important mod you make to a vehicle. For the use ours sees I just cant think of a better tire.
 
Somewhat unrelated question but I see everyone mentioning TireRack and I was wondering if y'all actually order from them and if so how much a local tire king or something would want to have them mounted? Looking at tire rack they seem to have the best pricing on all the tires im interested in so it would be convenient that way

The advantage of TireRack's pricing is usually eaten up with shipping charges. Unless you are buying wheels at the same time you still have to pay to mount your tires. We charge $20 each mount and balance at the dealership I work for.
If you shop around you can find deals locally. Sears,Costco, Sams Club, ect.
