They don't call the Great Lakes region the rust belt for nothing. Time to get some serious undercoating, and make friends with a car wash that has underbody spray jets!

Hell yeah man. I have been to the SAR show quite a few times. I have a friend who is a class 3 dealer. It is probably the best show of the year. Those things are getting so expensive though. A few years back I think they charged like $7 a ticket and like $3 for parking. Now they charge $12 a ticket and $7 for parking. What MGs do you have?

Oh so you are a dealer too. Or are some how other wise qualified for dealer samples. If you are a dealer, how is the class 3 business in your area? AZ is one of the most gun friendly states, so I am always wondering how things work in other places. BTW I don't mean to take over your thread, you can PM me if you don't want this to take away from people who can answer your original question.
I lived near the great lakes for years, one of my cars, a 1993 beater had some serface rust, mind you that brand was not know for rusting to holes like our beloved toyotas... but I washed it once a week that took care of a lot of problems. undercoating your truck before and after winter works well. I have many friends still in ohio who rely on this and a good pressure washer/ auto car wash with underbody wash and it works.... the problem with auto washes is that they do not do a very good job, often that blast of water is only for a few seconds and is at the start of the wash.... then all the crap just runs down under your car again.... if you are willing to fight the good fight, yoour rust free fruck can stay just that.... mostly

My girlfriend had a 92 4Runner rust free from New Mexico.
Upon arriving in the Chicago area we had a friend at Ziebart rustproof the hell out of it.
Just delayed the rust. After about 3 years bottoms of the doors were bubbling and remember, this was previously pristine.
The salt water mixture just gets inside everything.
IMO no way to avoid rust with these trucks unless you avoid the salt.

Is that expensive?
Do you salt the roads in WV?
I may have to get a sacrificial car for the winter.

They use all kinds of crap on the roads here. Liquid stuff (probably calcium carbonate), salt, cinders, sand.
Cost of an average SUV done by Rhino Liner - $300-$400.
If money is tight (I can understand that!) - there are lots of products you can use yourself that could get you through the winters.
The key is - prep work! Clean all the nooks and crannies prior to application. I would also first use a rust restoring product such ...
I'd use a do-it-yourself bedliner kit for those big areas that get the most damage, and rattle can the rest.
Or you can just get a POS car to get you through the winters.

I talked to a guy in Oregon city who had his chopper completely rhinolined. He said it cost him $150, and that was with fixing dents and whatnot in his fuel tank.
