Micro SD card - 2017 TRD Off Road

Hi Ho everyone !

Easy question here.

My 2017 TRD Off Road had a micro SD slot, there is even a little card in there with a Toyota sticker on it.

But there is not a square up on the screen to click for Micro SD, only for AM, FM, Sirius/XM, and some other stuff.

So what's the deal. Is the card empty, and that is why nothing shows up ?

Or just what ?

Oh it is my navmaps, got it got it got it.

I thought it was to put mp3 music files on and play them through the car stereo.

On another topic. Will my stock CD player in there handle CDs with mp3 files on them ? I think not because I don't see any mp3 logo anywhere.

Anybody know off-hand ?

I’ve not tried it, but it probably would work. You can also plug a USB stick into the USB port below the head unit.

Pop in the CD and give it a try.

Recommend nano Usb. Plug into usb port. Barely sticks out. Stays out of the way.

Hijacking this thread a bit, but does anyone know roughly what time of the year the "new" version of the micro sd card comes out? In other words, if the 86271-0e073 part is the 2021 maps, when should we expect to see the new part with the 2022 maps, or are these the 2022 maps already? Just trying to decide if it's worth waiting.

Also, curious if anyone has noticed a change in the price of these cards? I have 2015 Trail (so 2014 maps originally?) which I bought a new card for back in 2018, and at the time I couldn't find one for less than $110. Now it seems like they are $30-$40. Increased availability and lower prices often points to bootleg products, but maybe there is a more legitimate explanation?
