Might be buying a 4runner

Hello everyone! The other week my Subaru was hit in a head on collision as I was leaving work. I've owned nothing but Subaru's since I was 17. Anyway I'm looking to change up things and I'm interested in buying my friend's 99 4runner 5speed. It has 156k on it..it runs just needs shocks and tires and probably some other small things. The body is in great shape no rust and I'd have a mechanic look at the car if I decide to buy it. I know nothing about Toyota's so I'm just looking for some input here. Thanks -Karl

I have owned my 3rd gen for close to 12 months now. I absolutely love it. I had done some pretty good research on the vehicle before I bought it, and I own it now. Couldn't be happier. It has 200k on the dash and runs strong. If the previous owner took it to the dealership for maintenance, that's usually a good sign. Other than that, I can't really say much. Happy choosing.
