might be selling my truck - question for you guys

might be selling my truck here soon, and i was wondering: when you guys sell a car privately, how do you feel about letting a prospective buyer drive the vehicle? i know some folks won't let anyone drive it, but rather give them a test ride, and others would gladly hand over the keys.

just thought i get some more thoughts from those in this forum. thanks!

personally I would never buy a car that I wasn't allowed to drive. I wouldn't let the prospective buyer take it out alone but instead be in the car with him. i don't see how you can sell it without letting them drive it.

every used car ive ever bought i have driven (otherwise i would not have bought it). just go ride along with them.... sad to hear your letting go of your runner... getting a 4th gen??

i primarily use my truck to go back and forth to work in - all of 13 miles each way... this is the most reliable vehicle i've ever had - never been in the shop except for regular mx. never broken down on me or left me anywhere - and she's got 110,xxx miles on her.

just got my wife a new xb, and we also picked up 1969 international travelall for the home depot runs. can't really carry any "stuff" in the back of my truck since i've a huge box with two 12s in it, so i'm looking at something sporty. maybe a tc or an s2k. not sure what to get next - that's my big dilemma now.

i know that some people are picky about letting strangers drive their cars. thought i'd get other opinions though.

It's a 4Runner, not a GT3 RS. Let them take it for a spin, but go with them. I've let people take my cars for test drives, which included an Integra Type R and an S2000. The only vehicle that I didn't let them test ride was my CBR600, for obvious reasons.

take the test drivers driver liscense and write down the number. that's what the guy did when I bought my 4runner

Just go for a quick jaunt around town with the prospective buyer. If you're paranoid just try to avoid busy intersections. Just to add, my friend has an S2000 and I love it.
