Might own my first 4R soon! What do you think of this one?

Hello everyone! My name's Alex and I hope to be an active member in this forum soon. I've seen TONS of great info and people on here it's pretty great.


So anyways, I've been looking everyday for about a month now for 4Runners and I just found a good one (I think) but I gotta question about it for you guys.

My concerns are that it has almost surely had Strawberry Milkshake (he mentions new rad and rebuilt tranny). Is it fine if its been fixed?

Also I'm not sure if i trust the owner since he says its a Highlander Edition but it's clearly not w/o flares and color keyed bumper (so what else does he not know about it?)

Idk, lemme know what you guys think about it. I'd appreciate it!

By those pictures that's not a highlander edition. That's not even a Toyota hood scoop. The scoop on there is way too wide. Idk if I would trust him. If he's lying about things like that then who knows what hes lying about. Dont rush into buying one if it doesnt feel right. Take your time and be sure about it.

It's an SR5 with a scooped hood thrown on it;if it was a proper Highlander model it would have zero chrome or unpainted plastic on the nose,wide flares added in '00 and would have the Limited rims but the price doesn't look bad but I'd see if he's got some maintenance history behind it and maybe mention that it's not a Highlander model and offer $5500-6000.
I have 169k on mine and it runs like a top and despite a few off road scrapes here and there I have a full history of the truck since I've owned it and I wouldn't expect to get more than $7000 and mine is a true Highlander model.

I'd bet that scoop is homeade also.

Ohhhhh, dang nice catch on the hood scoop i didn't even notice that. Yea ok that answers my question then I'm not really feelin this one.

No stay away from that! It isn't a Highlander edition, re built transmission mean it hasn't been cared for. Find a different one, STAY AWAY! (Also, like others have said, the hoodscoop looks home made, def not a factory Toyota HS.)
